While it goes without saying that the quality of our vocational education has been checked and controlled by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) and also by ROC Mondriaan’s own audits, it is good to know that the IHMS proactively monitors the quality of its education and continuously strives to improve the results.
In addition to the controls by the Educational Inspection Department and by internal audits, all students are consulted annually in a survey and the results are published.
The school management regularly discusses progress with representatives from the various stakeholders, including the Advisory Council of managers in the hospitality sector, the Dutch-speaking and the English-speaking Parents’ Councils, the Student Council, representatives from internship companies abroad, and the Board of the Koninklijke Horeca Nederland. We also ask guests at Invitez for feedback, often through the “Friends of Invitez.”
The interaction between management and these councils is an important source of information for the school and it effectively contributes to the improvement of education.
A good example of this proactive approach of the IHMS is the qualitative survey conducted in the last months of 2020 among 500 first-year and second-year students about how the COVID-19 crisis has personally affected them. The conclusions and recommendations of this study offer the school the opportunity to provide targeted support to students and to thus contribute to their well-being and learning performance. The publication of this survey report appeared in January 2021.
