25 Years of International Stream

On Friday, September 30, the International Stream of the International Hotel and Management School (IHMS) celebrated its 25th anniversary. This is “a unique milestone,” according to school director Jacqueline van der Zwan. “ With our fully English-taught education and international atmosphere, we are still a major exception in the Netherlands. We are extremely proud that in our history we have trained more than 1,000 young people for the international hospitality industry!” Despite the large number of non-native speakers in The Hague, young people in The Hague can follow English-taught courses of their choice in higher education, but hardly ever at the MBO level. The exception is with Hotel Management at the IHMS International Stream. The fact that this course of study is now 25 years old is, of course, reason for a celebration. In addition to the current IS students, many relations and alumni from all over the world were also invited to the anniversary party. A special anniversary magazine was also presented and a new English-language website was launched: www.invitez.nl/en.

In all the Invitez locations, students and teachers presented many culinary delights from all parts of the world. Music was provided by the band “Dear Francis” and by DJ Lukas Vane (himself an alumnus of the International Stream). There was also a song composed especially for the occasion, which was performed by students of Mondriaan’s own Dutch Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA), who were dressed in beautiful “country outfits”, designed by the Mondriaan School for Fashion & Clothing.
