After a recently obtained gold AEHT medal for Mees Blankert, student of the self-employed cooking course of study at our hospitality campus, our own young hero can now represent all of The Netherlands during the Young Chef Olympiad, next week in India. This competition is at a global level and Mees’ participation was preceded by a tough preparation process: in addition to a number of “training sessions” in the kitchen, led by coach/teacher Jordy Ramakers van Praag, there were video and photo shoots and interviews on various media. Mees, although quite impressed by all the attention, remained very level-headed about it all.
The next week will be tense. Mees and his coach have now arrived in India and he will keep us – and you – informed of developments on our social media platforms. Even though participating is more important than winning, we will keep our fingers crossed for Mees! Go for it!
