What an amazing event the AEHT ‘Christmas in Europe’ celebration was for the 17 participating countries, who took part in this cultural exchange project during the first week of December (see also the earlier announcement in this news section).
After a traditional flag parade, there was a lovely gathering in the church, followed by the official opening by the Director of the School of Tourism, Recreation, and Events, who, together with the original ‘founder’ of the event, symbolically switched on the Christmas tree lights. This was followed by mulled wine, marshmallows over the fire, and a choir performance in the schoolyard, and in the evening, a beautiful dinner with a fashion show, organised by the students of the Beauty, Hair & Fashion programmes.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, visitors were able to enjoy a variety of treats, beautiful clothing, and, above all, lots of enthusiasm during an intercultural, culinary market. In the afternoon, there were city tours, and different participating teams prepared stunning buffets. The evenings were rounded off with cultural performances.
On Thursday, guests visited the Omniversum, Museon, and the Art Museum, before heading to the Royal Christmas Fair.
The ‘grand finale’ consisted of a lovely gala dinner, during which musical entertainment was provided between courses by students from DAPA. This evening also featured the official flag handover for the next edition, which will be held in Cyprus.
This event could not have taken place without the dedication of all our colleagues and students. It was truly special to see how everyone contributed and how many wonderful collaborations took place between different schools and programmes.
