We are pleased to invite you to a series of Educational Theme Dinners, organised regularly on Monday evenings by the International Hotel and Management School at Restaurant Orchard.
During the first dinner, on Monday 23 February, you will be inspired by the theme
Looking Out for One Another.
Our guest speaker is Jan Morsch from ‘De Tuinen van Mariahoeve’. He will explain how collaboration with neighbourhood organisations, the local authority and housing associations contributes to a greener environment, stronger community connections, improved health and tackling loneliness. He will also discuss how practices such as composting help to make the soil fertile and healthy. ‘De Tuinen van Mariahoeve’ also acts as a springboard for other initiatives, such as language lessons in a green setting and nature walks in Mariahoeve. In addition, several spin-off projects have emerged, including ‘De Compostbakkers’ and ‘Lekker buiten bezig’.
The dinner will be prepared and served by our chef, René van Rijswijk, together with our students, using fresh surplus ingredients. The dishes are not only full of flavour, but also beautifully presented.
You are most welcome to join us on 23 February. The dinner will take place in our restaurant Orchard, located at Koningin Marialaan 9 in The Hague. It will begin at 5.30 pm and is expected to conclude at around 8.00 pm. Guests are welcome from 5.00 pm onwards. The cost is €17.50 per person, including still and sparkling water, followed by coffee and tea. Other drinks are at your own expense.
Reservations can be made via the Orchard page on The Fork.

At the International Hotel and Management School and the School for Hospitality & Facility Services of ROC Mondriaan, where the chefs of the future are trained, sustainable food plays a central role. In our theory lessons, students gain knowledge about what sustainable, fair and healthy food entails — from farm to fork — taking into account sustainable cultivation and a fair income for producers. In practical lessons in our kitchens and restaurants, students put this knowledge into action. This includes learning to cook vegetarian dishes using local, seasonal and organic produce, working with surplus ingredients and experimenting with fermentation.
The Educational Theme Dinner is one such practical lesson. By attending, you contribute directly to this learning experience. By providing students with these experiences during their training, we hope that these future chefs and hospitality professionals will make sustainable choices that help keep our planet healthy.
We very much hope to welcome you.
Kind regards,
Team E.D.
