Our students on a work visit

The students of the ‘Self-Employed Chef’ course of study learn the trade at school. There they gain all the knowledge they need to eventually earn a diploma and put their culinary arts into practice. But how much fun and useful is it to occasionally attend a workshop or masterclass in the workplace of a successful catering company? And there, in addition to a lot of technical skills, to be able to gain insight into how you can make the difference if you later have to excel in a kitchen? Last Tuesday, a group of students was allowed to gain such an experience and they were welcomed with open arms and shown around various business endeavours of Simonis, a company that, thanks to the success of their fish shops, was able to grow into a chain of wonderful restaurants, each with its own specialty and touch.

Not only were the students amazed, but they also were able to get to work making their own sushi rolls. This was a workshop full of challenges and when it was over, each student got a large portion of ‘kibbeling’ (fried fish).
